Synopsis: The story revolves around the “Cat Hire House” in the city of Lin’an during the Southern Song Dynasty. The proprietress, Zhang Qiao Er, learned some cat-training techniques from the artisans when she was young. Whenever families in the city needed a cat servant, they would hire a cat from her shop.
Unexpectedly, a major case in the city implicates Zhang Qiao Er, and then she meets Ma Qing Shan, an honest junior constable of Lin’an Prefecture. As the case unfolds, Zhang Qiao Er’s other identity gradually emerges. It turns out she is the notorious “Cat Burglar” known among the common folk, and she has been the target of Ma Qing Shan’s pursuit all along.
Between their game of cat and mouse, affection blossoms, and eventually, they work together to expose the mastermind behind the scenes, safeguarding the city of Lin’an.
